WASHINGTON (Diya TV) — Federal agents searched Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar’s Washington home Monday as part of a criminal investigation. Omar condemned the operation as political intimidation and vowed she would not be silenced.

The Justice Department confirmed that Homeland Security Investigations agents executed a court-authorized search warrant in the Washington area. Its statement did not name Omar, identify potential offenses or explain what investigators sought.

A person familiar with the investigation told Reuters that it concerns alleged immigration fraud, including paperwork Omar’s late father completed when she was a child. White House border adviser Tom Homan said the Justice Department and Department of Homeland Security were conducting the investigation but declined to discuss specifics.

Agents carried boxes from the residence, and authorities blocked the surrounding street during the search.

Omar responded on X, accusing the administration of targeting political opponents.

“For ten years, Trump has targeted me with baseless lies and smear campaigns,” she wrote. “I will not be silenced.”

Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin said last month that an investigation involved whether Omar lied on immigration forms. Vice President JD Vance has also accused her of immigration fraud without publicly presenting supporting evidence. Omar denies those allegations, which her office has described as fabricated and defamatory.

House Democratic leaders condemned Monday’s search and questioned its timing ahead of the Nov. 3 midterm elections. Omar is seeking reelection in Minnesota’s 5th Congressional District, which includes Minneapolis. She first won election to Congress in 2018.

Justice Department policy prohibits prosecutors and agents from choosing the timing of investigative actions to influence an election or advantage a candidate or party. That policy does not impose a blanket prohibition on investigations during election campaigns.

Authorities have not publicly announced charges against Omar or released the evidence underlying the warrant. The search does not establish that she committed a crime.
